Age at Start of Correction: Approximately 13 billion years

Origin: Three thousand years after the Big Bang

Alpha One

Alpha One was one of the first Lights to come into existence in the early universe. The name Alpha One was given to him by Jack Campbell in his attempt to easily keep track of the Lights, as was the designation of 'him'. Most species which are either male or female tend to refer to Alpha One as him due to his apparent male personality traits. Alpha One's real name, as with all Lights, is actually a series of colors and shapes from the language used by all minds known as mindspeak. Unlike most Lights, he has more than one planet to call home. He uses Earth mainly as a place for studying organic life forms, while Mars is used as a retreat. Before The Great misunderstanding, he had also been known to spend much time on the Dren home world Diro.

Something From Nothing

During the early life of the universe, there was nothing but radiation and energy everywhere. The Lights mind could travel through the radiation, but is caused them pain. For this reason most decided to move their minds into an empty three dimensional area of the universe where they would use their mind tendrils to continue searching their original home for something other than radiation. Alpha One was the first Light to examine its own mind using its mind tendril. He could not understand what it was made from or how it worked, but he could see it was extremely complex and made up of trillions of smaller pieces. Humans would refer to those pieces as matter or atoms, but Alpha One designated them as mind lines since they appeared as a two dimensional line aligned along four dimensional space. When he started searching this new space they were in, he discover many of these mind lines appearing out of nowhere and floating freely. There were many different kinds, each with its own set of properties. He quickly realized that whenever a mind learned or experienced something new, it would absorb some of these mind line and grow. Human refer to these lines as mind matter. A few million years after they had shifted into what was now referred to as mind space, The Lights noticed something similar to the mind lines appearing in the space they left. This was the first appearance of short matter. Over time the short matter began connecting end to end, creating what human see as the matter that makes up the universe. All of this seemed to be appearing from nowhere, so Alpha One made it one of his goals to find out what or who was creating it.

Mind Theory

Alpha One had often worked with the Dren Nexus Eximius. They shared a deep desire to discover why the universe existed, and if anything was ultimately controlling major events. The both believed that some sort of intelligence must be causing minds to come into existence, since they always appeared from nowhere. When Eximius' mind to came into existence and observed to be much more complex than others, Alpha One was convinced someone or something was creating them. Eximius was the one who first theorized there could be an immensely huge and powerful mind which was controlling what happened in the galaxy. Because Alpha One had previously stated he believed some intelligence must have created the Infinite Divergence, he assumed Eximius was just expanding on that so he took credit for the idea of a galactic mind.

Finding Nexus

On Earth when the Lights first tried running their correction, one of Alpha Ones follows discovered that Jacks mind was much more complex than the other human minds. This and a discovery of the similarly complex mind of the Juvo named Didov led Alpha One to believe Jack and Didov may also be Nexus. None of the other Lights agree though, since their two mind were not as complex as Eximius' mind. Shortly after Alpha One told Eximius of the discoveries, she had her vision of merging a Lights mind with the mind of another species. After the first attempt at a correction failed, Alpha One focused all his effort on proving Jack was Nexus. Believing that finding a Nexus could prove him to be more intelligent, he only wanted one settlement to control with Jack as its potential leader. A few of his followers believed he was wasting his time and decided to support Alpha Twos efforts instead. Although Alpha Two did not believe the theory, he was still willing to help Alpha Ones experiments mainly because he believed they would prove Alpha One was not more intelligent.
