Origin: The planet Trayalia 1.3 million years ago.

Size: From one and a half to to three meters tall.

Lifespan: One hundred fifty to two hundred years.

Juvo

Juvo were described by Walter as looking like 'six machetes connected to a large pineapple'. Their skin looks similar to the surface of a pineapple. Each segment is similar to a scale but is soft like human skin. They have six appendages which can be used as arms or legs. Each appendage has an extruding blade shaped bone along one side. They usually walk using two appendages and run using all six. Their heads have a mouth and two eyes, but no nose because their bodies absorb any gases needed through tiny organs under each of their scales.

Violent History

If the Lights had not existed to guide them, the Juvo probably would not exist today. Their first one thousand years of existence was marked by many large scale wars between various social groups. Three of the Lights corrections took place to prevent the Juvo from using weapon which would have vaporized most of Trayalia's surface. Most Lights who lived on Trayalia did not believe the Juvo had no potential beyond acting as servant on other worlds. But during the first 100 thousand years of their existence, the Lights managed to train them to completely control their violent aspects. Until the recent Juvo rebellion, most thought all but the travelers had lost their violent tenancies.

Allies or Servants

The Lights always referred to the Juvo as their allies, but other races saw them as no more than servants. Most Juvo who were not on their home worlds worked as archeologists and guards for the Lights.

The Travelers

One million years ago some of the Juvo leaders decided they no longer wanted the Lights to have any influence on their lives and demanded that they leave. They had believe most Juvo would support them, but that was not the case. These leaders and their few supporters were not punished by the Lights, but instead offered a new home world where the Lights would leave them on their own. There was one catch: The new home world would be isolated from everyone else. No one would be allowed to leave or visit the planet. The group of Juvo accepted the terms and chose to resettle, believing being isolated and free was better than being glorified servants.

The Lights left enough technology with on the new home world to make life comfortable for the Juvo, but nothing that could be easily used to make weapons. The Juvo who were resettled were mostly politicians and artists, none were very knowledgeable with science. One of the first thing the resettled Juvo did was to devise a plan to get off the planet. The Lights had set up a blocking field around the planet which allowed only radiation and light to get through. The first thing the resettled Juvo did was to start planning a way to get through the field. Since none of them were scientists, they spent many generations rediscovering most of the science knowledge already known by the rest of the Juvo. During this time they experimented with using rockets with nuclear bomb to try blasting the field, but they had no effect.

When they first resettled, they documented all the scientific knowledge they knew existed, but had no idea how it worked. They knew the Lights used an empty three dimensional space populated with beacons to travel quickly across the galaxy. So they refocused their efforts on discovering how to enter this space. They spent thousands of years experimenting and researching before rediscovering the lost knowledge. When they did enter the empty space they were disheartened to not find any sign of the beacons. It took many more generations of research before they rediscovered how the beacons worked, thus allowing them to one again travel to other places in the galaxy.

The exiled Juvo, now calling themselves the Travelers, built up an army of spacecraft to move around the galaxy. They had one purpose: convince the other species of the galaxy the Light needed to leave their worlds. They would offer to help any species who wanted to make the Lights leave, but were not technologically advance to have any hopes of doing it. The Travelers have so far been unsuccessful in making any Lights leave, and only caused massive destruction on the planets whose species they attempt to help.

A Return to Violence

During the final correction on Earth, the majority of the Juvo in the galaxy began rebelling against the Lights. The Travelers had been in contact with many Juvo since leaving their isolated world, and had successfully instilled a rebellious attitude in most. When the rebellion started, the Lights on Trayalia deemed all Juvo a lost cause and immediately terminated every Juvo on the planet. The Juvo Nexus Didov was among the casualties. After the genocide on Trayalia the remaining Juvo withdrew to various hiding places to plan what to do next. One of these places was Earth, where over three thousand Travelers allied with George Ellis to attempt taking control of the planets systems away from Jack and the Nexus Arms.
