Waypoint

Waypoints have an extreme variation in size, depending on their purpose. On planets which are a centralized research area, or hub for the Lights, the waypoints will be gigantic, having space to house tens of thousands of life forms as well as computing power to run the most complex research.

Because the Light knew Jack could be Nexus, Earth had become one of the most popular research hubs in the galaxy, second only to Trayalia where they believed another possible Nexus existed. Before the Juvo revolt, the waypoints on Earth had been filled with various species, working together to learn more about Jacks Mind.

The primary purposes of a waypoint are to be a communications beacon, a data storage facility, and a construction factory. The waypoints on most planets were the size of large skyscrapers. They are built from short matter so the Lights can move them quickly to any point in time on a planet where they are needed.

On Earth, even if there had been no potential Nexus, they waypoints would have still been quite large. The reason being they needed to construct over fifty thousand towers and pillars to handle the conversion of all Earths cities to settlement. A normal sized group of waypoints would have taken almost a year to complete such a monumental task.
